Thankful Thursdays : Change

Seasons bring the undeniable aroma of change with them that cannot be ignored. This week I am entering a new season in my life and change is a coming faster than the speed of light.

Things I've wished for are coming true faster than I expected and it's a little overwhelming. By applying what I preach to others to myself, patience, love, hope, and trusting that everything works itself out in time, it's kind of surreal that things ARE working themselves out exactly like I wished they would.

Well almost everything, my heart is still a crazy mess when it comes to love. But something tells me there could be changes in that area too. Either way I have no choice but to remain optimistic and let time do its thang.

Change can be quite scary, but also exciting, and that's what life is all about, adventure and the thrill of it. Therefore on this Thankful Thursday I am grateful for change, come what may.

Tunes Tuesday II

This past weekend was one of the funest weekends I've had in a very long time. Not only because we were celebrating the victory of our Miami Heat along with the rest of the city, like I had predicted, but because the one and only goal of the weekend was to have fun. And that we did.

My best friend since elementary school flew in to partake in the Heat festivities and our other best friend's housewarming. But we're in Miami, so no excuse is ever really needed to party at any day of the week.

Aside from party rocking with LMFAO, enjoying the rare delicacies from the most famous food truck in Miami known by most as Pincho Man, and almost breaking my toe which still remains a mystery as to how it happened at the craziest housewarming party we've ever thrown, we had an amazing weekend.

We went to get pampered at our old hair salon that we used to go to when we were little chamacks. We also ate the most delicious complete Cuban breakfast with eggs, tostada, ham and cafe con leche for $3 at a little whole in the wall across the street from our elementary school. We literally took it back to the old school. We culminated the short weekend at brunch with 8 of our closets girlfriends, followed by the pool. We did nothing but laugh, cry, sing, and talk crap about men... Ahhh life is grand...

Therefore, today I am taking you back, way back, with some of my favorite jams from the early 90's... Im sure you can relate to at least one..

Thankful Thursdays : Miami Heat Championship Edition

Passion = any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate. This passion for sports brings families, friends, cities, and entire countries together or divides the best from the rest. That is exactly how I feel about sports. Perhaps it's not the norm but this woman (me) is extremely passionate about sports too and I don't really care if it may seem foolish to some. If I were to put an add on the paper to find a mate it would definitely be titled -"Must love sports."

My favorite sports are football, basketball, baseball and futbol (soccer). I am a die hard New York Giants, Miami Heat, and Miami Marlins fan. My son also plays tackle football and I volunteer as team mom for his team. The crazy things that go on in the parks is a subject I will be sharing in later posts under "Chronicles of a football mom."

Yes, I know the Giants aren't from Miami but it is one out of the three good things (aside from my 2 sons) that came out of my marriage. I've been a NYG fan for 12 years and still going strong. This season was particularly amazing because we just so happened to win the Super Bowl!!!! Yes, I'm still rubbing it in!

Tonight however, I am dedicating Thankful Thursdays to :: stand up and make some noise, for my Miami Heat ::. I am confident and have no doubt, zero, zilch, nada, that we will conquer and our 3 Kings, Wade, Bosh and league MVP Lebron will reign.

I can't wait to see LJ finally hold the trophy along side my baby D. Wade. I love D. Wade, I know I'm his soulmate and here's why. Our favorite number is 3, we're both 30, we have 2 boys, and one of our offsprings share the same uncommon name. Coincidence?! I think not. Except there's one little problem in my way Gabrielle Union, but she's an actress and Hollywood relationships don't last very long.

It's been a roller-coaster of a season for us Heat fans, but tonight triumph and victory will be ours.

After tonight my teams will be 2 for 2 (Giants and Heat) as the best teams in their categories. Could the Marlins make it 3 for 3? We'll see, anything is possible.

At the beginning of every year, people always claim, "This is my year." Well this has truly been MY year so far, maybe not in love yet, but heck yes in sports!

Therefore on this Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for sports and my Miami Heat!!!

Let's go Heat!!!!

UPDATE: Indeed Bron Bron got his first ring in a historic game. Below is a picture of me kissing our miniature trophy as my friend launches a pot to my head.. I was so excited I didn't feel a thing...

Congrats my to the 2012 champs... My Miami Heat!!!!

Tunes Tuesday

I don't know much, but there is one thing I know... That I know nothing at all and of that I'm not even sure... I don't know much, but this I know too.. That music makes everything better... And music goes hand in hand with all that represents me.

My taste in music is as eclectic as Miami is diverse. I can truly say I like all kinds of music from soul, to jazz, to hip hop, big band and swing, zouk-love, reggae, even country too. Of course I love dancing and jamming to some merengue, salsa, reggaeton and Cumbia (I am Colombian after all). I also listen to Disco, love me some croons too and after my recent trip to Europe, I have a new found love for House music. Yup I like it all.

But most of all I am passionate about music that inspires me and touches my heart. (I am a hopeless romantic after all). I spend most days getting lost in the poetic-like melodies of artists like the great Billie Holiday, Norah Jones, Bryan Adams, Ginny Owens, Jars of Clay, Alicia Keys, Sade, John Legend, Coldplay, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong etc... I could literally go on forever like Spotify.

It's often a useless gift, but I have the ability to link any situation to a song. Perhaps I can create a character for a graphic novel with my superhuman abilities, or not. But my goal however, is to expose those of you with a listening heart to different styles of music or maybe take you back in time and help you reminisce about what you were doing and who you were with when you first heard that song. Music has that ability, to teleport us back in time and make you feel exactly what you felt at that moment..

*Sigh* music truly makes everything better.

So to start off Tunes Tuesdays, here's one of my favs... Norah Jones - Come Away With Me...

Beauty

It doesn't matter how beautiful you are on the outside or in the inside, how good of a homemaker, wife, lover or mother you are, there is no guarantee that your man will stay true to you forever. A man will always do what he wants to do in the end.

Therefore, enhance your inner and outer beauty, take care of your responsibilities, love unconditionally, but don't ever lose yourself in your relationships, for as surely as the world turns, the seasons in your life will also change.

A woman’s worth should not be based merely on looks, although important, it isn’t more so than a woman’s character. How she walks, how she talks, how she cares, how she bears…all things. And although one day she might gain the Universe, she knows that her most priceless possession is that within her soul.

Thankful Thursdays

It's easy to get caught up in our daily routines and struggles and forget how blessed we really are. Problems come and problems go and then come back again. I want to encourage you to take at least a minute during your busy day every Thursday. Just stop for a second close your eyes and visualize all the positive things in your life and give thanks for what you already have... Try it... I'm sure it will help you stay focused and make it easier to get through the day... #ThankfulThursdays
